Simple Oak Rocking Chair {Before & After}

I love me 
a good rocking chair.

Just something about them makes me think of wide front porches, humid summer evenings, lemonade, and a screen door slamming.

In fact, one of my first furniture makeovers was this rocking chair.

When I think back to how I agonized over 

the distressing of that chair, I laugh. 

 That was well before I learned about the glories of chalk paint.  

That chair has 3 coats of primer and two coats of paint!  

LOL!!!

And a few months ago, I took an old oak rocking chair of my father's and gave it a little facelift.

A few weeks after that, my friend Christine called me and said she had found a rocking chair that was pretty similar at a garage sale.

Did I want it?

Yes, please!

And it's been sitting in the shop ever since.

A couple of weeks ago, I finally got around to doing something with it, even thought the fabric had been bought for months.  

Great lines.

Really good bones.

Dated.

All she really needed was a coat of paint and some new fabric.

So that's what I did.

Sometimes, that's all old chairs need 

to give them a fresh new look.

And to make them into something we can enjoy today.

Easy as that.
