A Prairie Home Christmas {Christmas Tree Reveal}

The Christmas Season has arrived!

YAY!

Deck the halls with boughs of holly!

Fa La La La Laa, La La La La!

LOVE IT!

It's my absolute favorite time of year!

So, when it was safe to sneak the tree out...
(only 6 days before Thanksgiving)

While Scott was gone to a wrestling tournament with the boys...

(He He He!)

Out it came and the decorating commenced!

(This is "my" tree.  We will have a live one in the living room that we will all decorate together.)

I love the whole process of decorating a tree.

Christmas music playing...

Stringing the garland...

Hanging the ornaments...

Notice I didn't say, stringing the lights...

Nope.

I don't like that too much.

It usually winds up sounding like "A Christmas Story" around here,
so this one is pre-lit.

Saves my sanity.

;)

I wanted to go with a pretty drastic difference from last year.

And with being self-employed and the economy in the tank,
I had to be very creative about changing it up.

Would you be shocked if I told you that
every single ornament on this tree,
with the exception of the little aqua jewels and the garland,
came from The Dollar Tree?

Yep.

Absolutely did.

The snowflakes, the cut out stars, the long aqua beaded ornaments,
the small and large ball ornaments...

Dollar Tree.

The solid white stars are from the same batch of
salt dough stars I made for the mantle garland.

The bead garland and the aqua jewels are from Target.

And the bows I made from the silver tulle that I had leftover
from making the "Believe" Christmas ornaments.

When it was all said and done, I think I spent $40 to change my entire Christmas tree theme this year.

And I love the freshness of the white and aqua.

Especially in the late evening...

and at night...

when I can relax and look at the peaceful twinkling lights.

Sigh.

Dream Big,

  3. Laura your tree is just beautiful and I LOVE how it all flows into your stair landing. I have to say I have never seen a window on a landing that has been made to look like a mantle. I think that is genius!! Your home is just so warm and inviting, something I am sure your children will remember for a lifetime.Hope all is well!!

  6. Oh my goodness Laura...it's beautiful. And, oh my goodness, I totally changed up my tree decor this year too :) I did the whole snowflake thing too, haha. Great minds think alike. All mine came from the thrift stores or Walmart. Yours was a bit better executed though. I'll be sharing some pictures soon...my camera hasn't been working :(

  7. You could decorate with free sticks from the yard and pull it off. Dollar Tree looks like Nordstrom's in your hands :) It's gorgeous Laura... in it's entirety.
The vintage ball jars around the tree and up the stairs are wonderful touches too.

  9. Absolutely gorgeous! I just love the lights on a tree and just sitting in the quiet and taking it all in. A friend of mine decorated her mantel beautifully with items from the dollar store. I was amazed! You two are very creative, I must say. :)
