Re-Use.
Re-New.
Make Do.
Since I hadn't touched our living room to begin decorating, except for our children's tree, Monday it was time to start poking around and see what I had...
Begin the gathering.
And pondering.
Sometimes, I just like to group everything together
and stare at it.
Walk away for a little while...
Come back and stare some more...
Scott shakes his head over the mess
that might sit on our table for a few days.
Eventually, I'll start doing something
and it'll begin to come together.
Sometimes, it's an...
(Anyone ever try to make a chicken wire pumpkin? Yeah. Great in theory. I'm not patient enough for the execution. LOL!!)
Or sometimes I get disgusted and never complete it.
(Happens more often than you even know!)
But this time, it all worked out.
I knew being a hoarder would come in handy!
HA!
Old window...
Scrap paper in Christmas-y colors...
Throw in some red and white felt,
with a Christmas-y green bow just for good measure...
I got out-voted by the kiddi-o-ies
on the aqua and silver theme for the living room.
According to them,
it's just not Christmas without red and green.
Some traditions must be kept!
But you know what?
The kids LOVE it!
And this little window was the beginning.
Pastel green and white card stock
and
scrapbook paper left over from making Eva some barrettes.
You might even recognize the Dollar Tree shelf liner
that I used on the back of this china cabinet.

I simply cut them all
in Christmas tree shapes of different sizes.
The white felt became snow-filled hills.
And then I layered the trees over it.
The bow is tulle and the letters, I cut out from red felt.
It looks great above the credenza
in our newly Chrisma-fied living room.
Tomorrow, I'll be showing you
our kid friendly
Christmas decorating.
Because Christmas...
is about the kids.
:)
Love it! I do love reds and greens for Christmas, especially the lighter, fresher green

I absolutely love everything and I love your motto ~ You are one talented lady ;-)
ReplyDeleteI like your philosophy. I try to stick to it but sometimes get sucked in by the pull of the new things on shelves. I didn't purchase anything new this year at all. Your trees in the window are just the cutest things - so creative!
ReplyDeleteKnock'en it out of the park again!! Super cute. I DO remember that drawer liner. hehe

ReplyDeleteYeah what Shannon said.
