I'm probably hurting my children's fragile psyches, but around here in the fall, you won't find ghosts and goblins, spiders and witches.
You will find jack o' lanterns and candy corn,
but I don't usually start on that until the beginning of October.
Until then, what I do,
is bring fall inside by using what nature provides.
Not usually on the scale of this year's dining room tablescape,
but in little ways like pinecones and leaves.
Excited about what I was able to do with our table last week,
I decided to stretch myself a little more and see what else I could find.
I decided to stretch myself a little more and see what else I could find.
And maybe went and got a little ahead of myself on the
Thanksgiving part of Fall.
;)
I created this little sideboard-scape...
Is that even a decorating term?
For less than $5.00.
By simply using what I had on hand.
The $5.00 went towards purchasing the cute little
chocolate colored clay pots from Wally World.
They were $0.95 each.
And perfect for writing on with chalk.
Plus, the chalk wipes right off with a wet cloth.
BONUS!
I brought a planter inside that I've had for years
and filled it outdoor goodies.
Leaves from the trees that are finally starting to turn.
Some faux pumpkins left over from last year's decorating.
Foxtails from along the road.
Some wildflowers that grow in the ditch.
(Finally found some - YAY!)
And a few pinecones and spanish moss
that I had leftover
from decorating the mantle.
The ironstone bowls, I already had.
(Thrift store find: $1.50 each)
And the corn, courtesy of my father-in-law
because I figured I had raided the mega-farmer's field enough.
I love how our dining room is full of nature's bounty.
And it looks wonderful with the tablescape...
That I love so much I haven't taken down yet.
I guess it's a good thing we have an eat-in area
in the back of the living room.
LOL!
It just goes to show what you can do
by not looking any further than right around your home.
Inside and out.

ReplyDeleteLove your sideboard! Our leaves aren't turning down South yet... but that's OK.... there's still time. :-) I'm loving the little pots from Wally's too!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, inspires me to start on my fall decorating. I also do not do "Halloween" decorating but will do fall from October until time to break out the Christmas decor which won't happen until after Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful. I'm just like you - no Halloween around here - just fall. I love natural colors and display. I almost called you out on that corn until you disclosed the source. LOL :)
ReplyDeleteOh Laura, you have done it again!! Simply beautiful... soft and natural. I am once again inspired by your decor using what you had on hand. In awe here..... Making me rethink things. :-)
ReplyDeleteWe do not do halloween here either. The lads survived never trick or treating.. we celebrate Fall.
Thanks for inspiring me....
Cheers, Gee

I love your fall decorating style! Everything looks just beautiful and it's nice to know that you can make a home look that amazing in such an inexpensive way. That buffet table is simply gorgeous painted white. What a lovely time of year for decorating! ~ Jamie
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness this is beautiful! I love that you made something so gorgeous without spending a fortune. I absolutely love every single element. It's elegant and sophisticated.
ReplyDeleteLaura -
ReplyDeleteI love the sideboard fall decorations! You did a beautiful job. :) But even more I LOVE that saying on the wall. I was just talking with a friend about that today. We can spend lots of time praying for something that God has already done for us, we have just failed to look at it from the right perspective, only to find it is right under our nose :)
Can't wait to see what else you do for fall!
Blessings - Sara
Sooooo many pretty pictures. You are getting good ;) The third from the last was amazing :)
ReplyDeleteAnother beauty girl!

ReplyDeleteYou've inspired me to get our my glass pumpkins. Thanks so much. I love your vignette. I can't believe you made all of that from on hand. I also love the words on your wall. Beautiful and inspiring.~~Dee
ReplyDeleteHi! I just found your blog through "Cozy Little House." I've taken a look around and I really like what I see. I just adore your patchwork owl pillows and your long owl transfer pillow. You may have just inspired me to make some too!

Your sideboard looks beautiful! Are those real leaves? Ours haven't changed yet so I am making a trip to Michael's to find something realistic! lol! The urn looks great and I love the pumpkins on your table. It's always nice to have another place to eat so you can enjoy your tablescapes, or in my case, the clutter!
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog at Cozy Little House! :)

Nice to meet you Laura! You DO have a fabulous dinning room!!! What pretty vignettes you make. Your wall with the saying about prayer and the photos is just wonderful! What a great reminder to pray for those we love!!

Please Please Please tell me what paint/color you used in your dining room. I love it! It's exactly what I've been looking for. I have the hardest time picking out the right color paint from a little paint chip at the store.
